Medical Oncologist

Dr Elizabeth Liow obtained her medical degree from The University of Melbourne. She currently holds a public appointment at Monash Health, and is Adjunct Lecturer in Medicine at Monash University. She is recognised for her integrated approach to patient care and research, with active leadership in clinical trials.

Dr Liow undertook a fellowship at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where she broadened her research experience in genitourinary, lung, gastrointestinal, and early phase trials. During her time at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Dr Liow provided medical support for the Centre for Biostatistics and Clinical Trials (BaCT) for a wide range of investigator-initiated and collaborative group studies. Further to that, Dr Liow expanded her research skills and expertise in her role as Clinical Research Fellow at Australia’s oldest medical research organisation, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). She is currently leading novel research projects in kidney cancer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research while undertaking her PhD. Dr Liow has also collaborated in many key Trans-Tasman research initiatives as a fellow for the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP). She has an ongoing active role in genitourinary research, and is lead researcher for various prostate cancer and bladder cancer trials at Monash Health.

Dr Liow has presented her research at many national and international scientific meetings, and is author of several high-quality publications. She is committed to scholarly activity, and is a reviewer for a number of medical journals.
